Consultants to help you do your best writing
The Writing Studio is your resource to help you become the best writer you can be. The Studio is open approximately 10 hours a day, but not all hours are staffed. Writing Consultants are available from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. (Mon. - Th. & until 4 on Friday). All consulting is free of charge to Ashland University undergraduate students. To schedule an appointment, come to 104 Bixler to sign for a time. Telephone appointments are not accepted.
- Graduate students should contact Ms. Susan Blake to arrange an appointment.
Who are the Writing Assistants?
Think of Writing Assistants as mentors. They have written papers for courses you are now taking, so they know professors’ expectations for assignments. A WA is a voice of experience for a course she or he has successfully completed. The WA will advise writing assignments and discuss texts with students. When you are planning to arrange an appointment with an assistant, look at their areas of expertise, and make an appointment as soon as you receive a new writing assignment.
You may contact the WA by e-mail, but the best way to schedule is to come to the Writing Studio. Bring your course text(s) and writing handouts to discuss with the WA before you start a draft, then follow up with a series of appointments until the paper is polished and ready to hand in. We do not accept e-mail attached papers, and we do not proofread.
