I conducted an NSF-REU during the summer 2007: I worked with Dr. Michael Spector in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of South Alabama.  I helped characterize a starvation stress response (SSR) gene, sigma E, activation in the bacteria Salmonella serovar Typhimurium.
