Course taught include composition, women's literature, Victorian literature, technical writing, literature and disability, African writers.
My professional interests include women's literature, world literature, popular culture and disability studies. I have developed courses in African authors, writers and disability, nineteethn century women writers, and am working on developing offerings in popular culture, including graphic novels, manga and anime. I have published and/or presented papers on Charlotte Young, Reynolds Price, Nancy Mairs, Hildegard of Bingen, Lois McMaster Bujold, disability spirtuality, religious humor
and the popular response to firefighters after 9/11.
Presentations at conferences include American Academy of Religion, Modern Language Association, Society for the Study of the Fantastic in the Arts, National Women's Studies Association, Popular Culture Association, and several regional scholarly associations. I have published in Kaleidoscope (Journal of Disability and the Arts), Femspec, NWSA Journal, chapters in edited books on Victorian theologians and (in process) comic book heroes, and have edited
books on energy resources, environmental literature, and popular culture information sources.
