| Introduction to Your Assessment Portfolio |
|
Welcome to the Religion Major. In order to better track your progress and needs as you complete the religion major, you will be required to keep a portfolio of your work. This portfolio will also serve as a useful resource for future employment, graduate work or as a resource for faculty evaluations.
The portfolio is structured around the five student outcomes that we seek to accomplish in the religion department. For each outcome or goal, you must submit written work. Along with that paper, exam, or project, you must attach a copy of the Faculty Assessment Form for the Student Portfolio .
For example, after taking REL 106, you must take an exam or paper and give it to your REL106 professor, along with a copy of the Faculty Assessment Form for the Student Portfolio for Departmental Goal 1 . (Download these forms from the web site) He or she will fill out the form and return it to you, along with the paper or exam. You will then place that paper or exam along with the form into your student portfolio, which is kept with your faculty advisor. Your faculty advisor will check off that requirement on your student portfolio checklist. You have now completed the Stage 1 requirement for that learning objective. When you take REL 210, 213, 304, 375, or 450, you must again submit the paper or exam to the professor for that course along with the Faculty Assessment Form for the Student Portfolio for Departmental Goal 1. He or she will fill it out, return it to you, along with the paper or exam. Your faculty advisor will check off that requirement on your student portfolio checklist. You have now completed the Stage 2 requirement for that learning objective.
It
is your responsibility to maintain your portfolio.
The successful completion of the student portfolio is a requirement
for graduation. |
