1. Catalog description: This course is designed to introduce students to effective money management skills. Topics discussed in this course will range from setting realistic financial goals to various methods that can be employed to achieve those goals. This course demonstrates how to successfully face all the personal finance issues in the real world.

2. Course content: Various aspects of personal finance are discussed in this course including but not limited to creating and achieving financial goals, effective use of credit and credit cards, investment choices, impact of inflation on financial goals, insurance, retirement plans, and strategies to building wealth.

3. Student learning objectives:

•  Develop a set of financial goals.

•  Create spending plan based on expected income that incorporates the cost of goals.

•  Understand terminology and choices associated with personal finance.

•  Create a financial plan that can be utilized once the student completed their college education.

4. Student assessment criteria:

•  Tests and written assignments

•  Individual presentation

•  Development of a realistic financial plan

5. Additional information (optional): Competencies being measured include specialized business knowledge, managerial thinking, written communication, verbal communication.
