1. Catalog description: 

An introduction to the analysis of investments in financial assets, both in an individual and a portfolio context; the characteristics and evaluation of specific investment vehicles.

2. Course content: 

Economic analysis, technical analysis, fundamental analysis, evaluation of common stock, preferred stock, convertible securities, government and corporate bonds, options, commodity futures, real estate, mutual funds, and portfolio management.

3. Student learning objectives: 

 To provide students with a basic knowledge of the relationship of economic indicators to the financial markets, the valuation of securities, technical analysis of financial markets, fundamental analysis, and risk measurement of individual companies.

4. Student assessment criteria:

                           Three examinations during semester                     40% of final grade

            Comprehensive final examination                         45% of final grade

            Paper or computer project                                 15% of final grade
