Quotes from Employers
Employers have impressive things to say about interns from Ashland. Many
consider our students to be more competent than their peers from other
schools. Here are a few comments from companies who have enjoyed working
with our students:
- "She is head and shoulders above any intern I have worked with
in my career. Julie is a star and we would like her to choose a career
with Wal-Mart."
- " I cannot say enough on how pleased I am to have Rachelle as
our first intern. I am afraid that she has raised the base of expectation
so high that others will not be able to reach it."
- "I've worked with many interns and internship programs over the
past 21 years, and in that time there have been two interns that I would
endorse/recommend without hesitation or reservation. Todd is one of
those two. His abilities, work ethic and open-minded attitude are exceptional."
- "David did a terrific job for us. The University and your program should be quite proud to have students of David's caliber. If he is any indication of the level of talent at Ashland, we look forward to the use of other student interns in the future."
Student Organizations
Ashland has a culture of student involvement. The University has more
than 100 clubs and organizations that allow students to make a difference
and practice their leadership skills right from the start of their college
career. The College of Business and Economics itself has at least eight
student organizations, some of which have national reputations.
The Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) have placed in the top three in the regional competition since 1997 and have been placed among the top in national and international competitions. The Eagle Investment Group, as part of the regular curricula, studies investment and portfolio theory, prepares for the NASD Series Seven examination, and manages an actual portfolio of over $300,000, with a track record to date that compares favorably to professional money managers. The American Marketing Association has helped the local Habitat for Humanity secure a grant and has conducted marketing surveys for local businesses.
In addition, nearly all disciplines have chapters associated with their national organizations. These groups provide numerous opportunities to enhance professional skills and expertise through interaction with faculty members and students who share your interests. You will also network with professionals in your field, giving you beneficial connections and early exposure to the choices and issues unique to your chosen career.
