Dr. Pettigrew

On July 1, 2007, Frank E. Pettigrew assumed his responsibilities as Provost of Ashland University, Ashland, Ohio.

Dr. Pettigrew, a Ravenna, OH native, received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Ashland College. He went on to earn a Master of Arts degree from Kent State University and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education from the University of Idaho. Provost Pettigrew has served as a faculty member at Ashland University, Kent State University, University of Idaho, and Northwestern University.

Dr. Frank E. Pettigrew’s educational administrative tenure includes serving as the Dean of the Dwight Schar College of Education at Ashland University, Chair of the Sport Sciences Department at Ashland and as the Director of the School of Exercise, Leisure and Sport at Kent State University in Ohio.

Frank Pettigrew has been listed in several editions of Who's Who Among American Educators. Throughout his career Dr. Pettigrew has presented and published numerous articles regarding the instructional aspects of education. He has also published two editions of an instructional textbook that focuses on pedagogical preparation for sport educators.

Dr. Pettigrew's wife, Amy, has had an outstanding teaching career in both public schools and higher education, most recently completing 10 years of teaching at Plain Local Schools in Canton, OH. The Pettigrew’s have two children: Emily, who is currently serving as a Legislative Aide in Columbus and Hallie, who is a college student at Wingate University in North Carolina.
