2013 Destinations

Culture & Cuisine in Ireland: Spring Break 2013
Traveling to Ireland will provide students with the opportunity to experience one culture in depth i.e., with a focus on cuisine of the area. This tour is tied to a course being offered during the spring semester, FCS 221 Food and Culture. This course fulfills the International Perspectives Core Requirement or Border Crossing Requirement. Students who choose to enroll in FCS 221 will complete a course project on an Irish topic to be further researched in Ireland. See the Ireland 2013 Brochure for more information.

African Literature in South Africa: Summer 2013
This course emphasizes the study of literature produced on the African continent during the pre-colonial, colonial, and postcolonial periods. Students who chose the study-away add-on will meet South Afrrican authors studied in the course, hear lectures from South African literature academics, and tour sites specific to South Africa’s history of racial apartheid and reconciliation such as Robbin Island, Cape Town townships, the Slave Lodge, the Iziko Museum, District 6 Museum, and the Castle of Good Hope. Ashland University in Germany Program: Summer 2013
Students live in Wittenberg, Germany for three weeks and take two Ashland University classes taught by Ashland University professors. See the 2013 Ashland University in Germay Brochure for more information!

Honors Grecian and Turkish Odyssey: Summer 2013
This multi-city tour will provide students with the opportunity to experience firsthand the cultures of Greece and Turkey. This tour is tied to the Spring 2013 Honors 390: Honors Interdisciplinary Seminar course, in which students will study various works with ties to Greece and Turkey. Global Perspectives in Education Inquiry Seminar (EDUC 788)
Global Perspectives in Education Inquiry Seminar is an exploration of educational practices around the globe. Along with Dr. Ifedi, students will engage in research to uncover and investigate educational systems in Finland, the United Kingdom, and other countries of interest in comparison to our school systems in the United States.
