English 338, Great Ideas: The Literature of Truth and Reconciliation
Description of Course/Program: Description of Course/Program: The spring semester course focuses on literature depicting the democratization of South Africa from the former apartheid regime-particularly literature about the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the effort of South Africans to reach conflict resolution and healing from its former system of institutionalized racism. The South African portion of the course will offer students the chance to hear directly from South Africans of all colors and political persuasions who were involved in the process.
Criteria for Participant Selection: Any Ashland University student who has completed English 102 Composition II and who needs a Tier II humanities course and/or an International Perspectives Course will be eligible for the course. Great Ideas also fulfills a requirement for most English and related majors.
