Financial aid and scholarships to help you

At Ashland University, you have a team of experienced financial aid counselors working on your behalf. Ninty-eight percent of AU students receive financial aid through a variety of sources.

We offer scholarships for accomplishments across a wide range of areas. From academic scholarships to music, art, theatre and athletic scholarships, there are many opportunities that can help cover a portion of the cost. While you will want to apply for any scholarships that are available in your local area, you don’t need to apply separately for Ashland University grants or scholarships. Our staff automatically awards you all federal, state and institutional grants and scholarships you are eligible for.

All financial aid administered by Ashland is awarded annually on a first-come, first-served basis and you will need to reapply each year. To learn about important steps required to receive financial aid on time, please review how to apply for aid.

Financial aid is processed for Ashland University students on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to those who have submitted a FAFSA by the March 15 priority date. To receive your financial aid in a timely manner, please complete the following steps:

Step 1  Apply — Have your federal PIN ready. If you do not have a PIN or need a new one, apply at www.pin.ed.gov. You and one of your parents listed on your FAFSA will each need a PIN to sign your FAFSA online. Complete your FAFSA by March 15 using Ashland University’s school code 003012. Make every effort to complete federal tax returns in February to use actual tax information when filing your FAFSA. If that is not possible, please file your FAFSA on time with estimated tax figures and update your FAFSA when they are complete.  Watch "7 Easy Steps to the FAFSA" for a helpful tutorial.
Step 2  Review Award — Review your award on WebAdvisor. Incoming students receive the first Financial Aid Award by mail along with instructions for viewing the award electronically on WebAdvisor. Current students and registered incoming students whose awards are revised will receive notice through Ashland University email when their Financial Aid Award is available for viewing. Be sure to check your Ashland University email account frequently for important notices from the Financial Aid Office.
Step 3  Complete Loan Processes — For any loans listed on your award letter that you wish to take advantage of, complete required processes if you have not already done so. If you wish to cancel or reduce any of your loans, please send us your request in writing to financialaid@ashland.edu. Federal Stafford Loans listed on your award will be processed unless you tell us otherwise.
