Spring 2014 Commencement Ceremony
The Spring 2014 Commencement is Saturday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at the Dwight Schar Athletic Complex's Miller Stadium. The procession will begin at 9:40 a.m. and graduates are to assemble at 8:45 a.m. at the Ferguson Soccer Complex, which is just southest of Miller Stadium.
Information there will show you assigned areas according to the degree received. You should go to these areas and line up alphabetically. The time schedule is as follows:
- 8:45 a.m. -- Graduates line up in assigned area, by degree, alphabetically and double line.
- 9:40 a.m. -- On the sound of chapel bells, the marshal will lead the graduates through the hallway toward Kates Gymnasium.
- 9:45 a.m. -- Faculty will march between the double lines of graduates and then, led by the mace bearer and platform party, will proceed to seating on the stadium floor as the band begins to play processional.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held in Kates Gymnasium inside the Physical Education Center and each undergraduate and graduate student will be given four tickets to allow his or her family to attend the ceremony. Overflow seating will be available in the Student Center Eagles’ Nest and the Student Center Auditorium, where the ceremony will be shown live at each venue. The event also will be broadcast on the www.ashland.edu website.
If you have any questions regarding the ceremony, please contact the Registrar’s Office at 419.289.5029. If your plans change and you are unable to attend the ceremony, please notify the Registrar’s Office by May 2.
Once the ceremony has begun, men should follow the President in removing and replacing caps. Graduation etiquette suggests that graduates remain for the entire ceremony.
Please check your diploma for errors and report them to the Registrar’s Office following the ceremony.
Congratulations on this special day.
