You’ll be in college before you know it!
You probably feel like college is a long way off. No need to worry about that yet. You’re busy with high school — sports, tests and hanging out with friends. There’s plenty of time to plan for college. Wrong!
The time to begin thinking about college is now. Before it becomes a crisis and you have to make a decision under pressure, perhaps missing out on scholarships, aid and other opportunities that could help.

If you are considering Ashland University, we encourage you to take these 3 steps now to get ready for college:
- Plan a campus visit. It’s easy you can make your plans online now.
- Start thinking about what you might want to study as a major. Don’t worry if you’re not sure. That’s normal. In fact, many students don’t decide for sure until they are on campus. We have tools in our Career Development Center to help you sort out your interests and aptitudes so you can set logical goals to get you where you want to go. It’s another great service you get at Ashland that’s not available everywhere else.
- While you are here for your campus visit, you’ll sit down with an admission representative who can discuss the courses you should take now that will help you when you enroll at Ashland. Our financial aid counselors can meet with you to discuss scholarships, grants and when (and how) to apply.

Why Students Love Ashland!
|
When it comes to college, we know you have a lot of choices. Here are a few of the dozens of reasons students love Ashland:
- Professors provide lots of one-on-one attention — they actually know you (which is rare on most large state university campuses.)
- We are a mid-sized university in a small city. We’re located halfway between Columbus and Cleveland, so the big city lights aren’t far away, but you’ll live in a super safe community.
- There are many opportunities to get involved from our dozens of clubs and our award-winning intramural program to our intercollegiate athletics, theatre, choirs and band. There’s a lot going on all the time.
- There is a strong spiritual community on campus that provides opportunities for religious study and personal growth.
- We offer more than 70 undergraduate majors including some that are difficult to find elsewhere such as Toxicology, Sport Communication and Actuarial Science. Our College of Education is rated among the best for training teachers in the state.
- A full 98 percent of our students receive some form of financial aid. We work with you to make college affordable.
