Parent Involvement
|
The purpose of the Ashland University Parents Association (AUPA) is to encourage parents' active interest in the growth and development of their sons and daughters and the University. Through the years, the AUPA has built a strong tradition of identifying and sponsoring need-based university projects and have always provided ongoing support for the Ashland University Parents Fund - benefiting nine of ten students attending Ashland this year.
This year the Parents Association has contributed a new addition to the third floor of Founders Hall, an automated Phone Center. Students use the new facility to not only make calls on behalf of the Annual Fund to raise money for the 9 out of 10 students attending Ashland, but also call perspective students for the Office of Admission. While still a work in progress, the Phone Center's new automated system has brought about ease and efficiency.
In recent years, these projects have included:
- The Clayton Hall Parking Lot - providing an additional 100 student parking spaces in close proximity to the quad and many of the student residence halls;
- The Executive Suite on the 9th floor of Amstutz Hall - where the Parents Executive Committee, Alumni Board of Directors and university Board of Trustees all meet;
- The renovation of the soccer fields;
- The purchase and installation of clocks in the Student Center; and
- The construction of a conference room in the Alumni/Parent Relations Office - used to interview many prospective students and their families.
Over the years, the size of the contributions have ranged from $10 to $10,000 with each gift playing an important role in the success of the campaigns.
