The Eagle Cheerleaders

A talented group of AU Eagle Cheerleaders provide the lift and energy for Eagle athletes and fans. The varsity squad consists of sixteen female members that cheer at all football games and home basketball games. The varsity squad also accompanies the teams to any NCAA tournament games. Each girl on the varsity squad is awarded a $500 scholarship.

The junior varsity squad has eight female members that cheer at all home football games and all home women's basketball games. No traveling is required.

Both squads practice twice per week for two hours per practice. Practices are generally held on Sunday evenings and one weeknight according to everyone's schedule.

All cheerleaders attend a four-day summer UCA camp to learn and sharpen their skills. While there, our Eagle cheerleaders learn from and compete against much larger NCAA Division I squads.

Tryouts for the squads are held each March. Anyone who has been accepted to Ashland University by the tryout date may participate. Tumbling is not mandatory for the tryout, but it is helpful.

Ashland University participates in NCAA Division II athletics and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

AU Eagle Elite Dance Team

A cast of sixteen women form the AU Eagle Elite Dance Team. This energetic and rhythmic team entertains the crowds at all men's home basketball games.

Two-hour practices are held twice weekly, typically on early Sunday evening and one weeknight according to everyone's schedule.

Each summer the team attends a four-day UDA dance camp to learn and sharpen their skills in preparation for a great season.

Tryouts are held each March for the coming year. Anyone who has been accepted to Ashland University by the tryout date may participate.

Questions about the Eagle Elite Dance Team or the tryout process may be directed to Vicki Wirick, Head Coach, at 419.289.5063 or vwirick@ashland.edu.
