The Ashland University baseball
program will host a pair of baseball camps in December. The first
session will be held Dec. 21 and 23, 2002, and the second session
is slated for Dec. 30-31, 2002. Both sessions will run from 10
a.m. to 3 p.m., and will be held at Ashland Universitys
Conard Field House. The camps are tailored for players ages 7-18
and grades 2-12.
This camp has a number of special features.
Campers will use pitching machines, batting practice tees and soft
toss areas. There will be videotape analysis of each camper
hitting and each camper will be tested with a radar gun. Campers
will be grouped by age and ability.
Each camper will receive a camp shirt. Campers
must bring a glove or mitt, tennis shoes, hat, bat and must
provide their own lunch and drinks. Cost is $60 per session.
Accident insurance is not provided by the camp each camper
must have accident insurance.
Both sessions will be directed by AU head
baseball coach John Schaly. Under Schalys direction, AU has
become one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation.
Last years team went 48-13 and advanced to the NCAA Division
II championships in Montgomery, AL, the second time in Schalys
five years in Ashland that the Eagles made that trip. Schaly has
won over 550 games in 15 years as a college head coach. He will be
assisted in these camps by his players and AU assistant coaches.
