AU Baseball To Host December Camps
November 14, 2002

The Ashland University baseball program will host a pair of baseball camps in December. The first session will be held Dec. 21 and 23, 2002, and the second session is slated for Dec. 30-31, 2002. Both sessions will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will be held at Ashland University’s Conard Field House. The camps are tailored for players ages 7-18 and grades 2-12.

This camp has a number of special features. Campers will use pitching machines, batting practice tees and soft toss areas. There will be videotape analysis of each camper hitting and each camper will be tested with a radar gun. Campers will be grouped by age and ability.

Each camper will receive a camp shirt. Campers must bring a glove or mitt, tennis shoes, hat, bat and must provide their own lunch and drinks. Cost is $60 per session. Accident insurance is not provided by the camp – each camper must have accident insurance.

Both sessions will be directed by AU head baseball coach John Schaly. Under Schaly’s direction, AU has become one of the top NCAA Division II programs in the nation. Last year’s team went 48-13 and advanced to the NCAA Division II championships in Montgomery, AL, the second time in Schaly’s five years in Ashland that the Eagles made that trip. Schaly has won over 550 games in 15 years as a college head coach. He will be assisted in these camps by his players and AU assistant coaches.

Limited space is available in both camps. Registration is accepted by mail or phone. For more information, call Schaly at 419-289-5444 (Office) or 419-281-7826.
