Like a Hollywood director, the Ashland University Eagles could have yelled “Take Two,” any number of times on Saturday night (Nov. 30) at Kates Gymnasium.

The Eagles forced 40 West Virginia Wesleyan turnovers on Saturday and that was a huge difference in AU’s 91-81 win over the Bobcats. The win was Ashland’s fourth straight and leaves the Eagles at 4-0 on the young season.

AU had just 20 turnovers and scored 41 points of WVW turnovers. The teams were nearly even in several other departments. Both teams brought down 37 rebounds. Ashland shot 50 percent (36-72) from the floor and Wesleyan finished at 49.2 percent (30-61).

Senior guard Isaac Kincaid scored 24 points to pace AU. The Eagles had a 44-40 lead at halftime. Ashland’s largest lead in the second half was 14 points. The Bobcats (0-3) got the margin down to five points with 54 seconds left in regulation.

Kincaid was one of four AU players to reach double digits in scoring. Senior point guard Angelo Edwards had 14 points and sophomore center Mike Campbell had 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Senior guard Tom Church added 10 points and six rebounds. Kincaid is averaging a team-high 23.3 ppg. Campbell is bringing down 9.8 rpg.

The Bobcats were led by Jason Jones’ 22 points. Richard Lindsey had 17 points and 12 rebounds.

AU returns to the court on Monday (Dec. 2), hosting Tiffin at 7:30 p.m.
