The Eagles ran their record to 7-0 Saturday (Dec. 7), 2-0 in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play, with an 85-65 win over Northwood at Kates Gymnasium. AU is 7-0 for the first time since the 1999-2000 season.

A year ago, the Timberwolves went 2-0 against the Eagles and knocked them out of the GLIAC tournament in the first round. The other NU win came in Midland, MI, at the buzzer.

This time, the Wolves were in trouble from the outset. Senior guard Isaac Kincaid scored 27 points for AU, 18 in the first half. Ashland never trailed after grabbing a 7-6 lead with 15:56 to play in the first half. The Eagles were in front at halftime, 42-28.

Kincaid did most of his damage from outside. Inside, the Eagles turned to sophomore center Mike Campbell, who had 12 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocked shots. Ashland outrebounded the visitors, 43-32 and led in second-chance points, 28-10. In addition to Campbell, freshman center LeBron Massey gave the Eagles a solid effort with seven points and seven rebounds in 16 minutes.

Ashland’s lead never got below nine points in the second half.

Guard Dallas Logan had 16 points to pace Northwood (1-4/0-2). Nemanja Kreckovic had 14 points and six assists.
