The Ashland University soccer program will be
hosting a series of camps during the summer months at the AU
Soccer Complex on the campus of Ashland University.
AU will host an Open Youth Camp on June 9-13.
The camp is split into two sessions, with the
5-10 year-old age group participating from 9-11:30 a.m., Mon-Fri.
The afternoon session is for children 11-14 and it begins at 2
p.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Mon-Fr.
Camp fee is $85. Children of AU faculty/staff
members will be charged a reduced $75 rate. For families with more
than one camper, additional children will be charged a discounted
fee of $75 per child.
Campers will need to bring their own soccer
ball, proper outdoor shoes (cleats), filled water bottles, shin
guards, non-marking indoor shoes and a medical release.
A high school girls team camp will be held on
June 27-29 and high schools boys team camp will be held on
July 11-13. All training sessions will be conducted by regional
college coaches and will give camp participants an opportunity for
exposure to a wide array of college coaches.
These camps do not count against any summer
contact days. A college recruiting seminar will also be included.
Campers will have an opportunity to stay
overnight at the campus and have use of AU facilities.
The Eagle Soccer Camps will be directed by AU
head coach John Hall and assistant coach Keith Closson.
The AU womens team finished the 2002
season with a 15-2-2 record, 7-0-2 in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. AU has won the GLIAC
championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II playoffs for six
consecutive years.
The Eagle men concluded the 2002 campaign with
an 11-5-2 record and a second place finish in the GLIAC. It was
