Ashland University head womens
basketball coach Sue Ramsey got some help for her
backcourt this week when 5-7 guard Amber Rall (Bucyrus,
OH/Wynford) announced that she will attend the university in the
fall and play basketball.
Ralls a point guard who averaged 26.3
ppg., this past season. That scoring average was third in the
state. She scored over 2,000 points in her career and finished her
career in Ohios Top 20 for points. In 2002-2003 she led
Wynford to an undefeated card during the regular season. She shot
53 percent from the field. Rall is a three-time Division III
player of the year.
Coach Ramsey and her coaching
staff have done a tremendous job making the college selection
process about recruiting a solid person not just a player, even
though Amber is both, said Wynford head coach Amy Taylor. Both
the people and atmosphere of Ashland University attracted Amber in
a personal way. She feels she has the opportunity within the
Ashland University program to develop as a well-rounded
student-athlete in the surrounding area where she grew up.
Amber is a tremendous addition
to our program, offered Ramsey. She has great court
vision and can obviously put the ball in the basket. Her work
ethic and passion for the game are outstanding. She will make an
immediate impact both on and off the court at Ashland University.
Rall plans to major in education.
Last fall, AU added two more student-athletes -
6-0 Jennifer Miday (North Canton, OH/North Canton Hoover)
and 5-7 Melissa Howe (Hilliard, OH/Hilliard-Davidson) - to
the roster. Both of those players will begin their college careers
in the fall.
Ashland is an NCAA Division II institution that
competes in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
