Both the Ashland University mens
and womens cross country teams placed second on Friday
(Sept. 5) at the Ohio State Invitational, held at the Ohio State
University golf course.
Six teams competed in the mens race. The
host Buckeyes took top honors with 19 points. AU (46) claimed
second and Otterbein (84) came home third.
Ohio State placed seven individuals in the Top
10. Ohio States Rob Myers led the pack over the 6K course in
20:56.1. AU junior Nate Iler was the runnerup in 20:57.0.
AU senior Joe Soehnlen was ninth in 21:37.0.
Ohio State also won the team trophy in the
womens race. The Buckeye women won with 15 points and AU was
the runnerup with 66 points. Dayton (72) was third.
The Buckeyes took the top five places in the
race. Lyndsi Gay broke the tape first on the 4K course in 14:03.6.
Ashland had two runners finish in the Top 10.
Senior Erika Loomis was ninth in 15:02.8 and sophomore
Jessica Fleming was 10th in 15:04.5.
