Two days prior to Thanksgiving, a week
after Christmas, maybe even if they played around Easter, the
Ashland University Eagles have feasted on Wilberforce.
Tuesday (Nov. 25) at Kates Gymnasium, the
Eagles provided a healthy serving of points as they thrashed
Wilberforce, 118-83. The victory was AUs second straight and
evens the Eagles card at 2-2. This was the second
consecutive game that AU has scored 118 points. Ashland has never
lost to Wilberforce and leads the all-time series, 18-0.
This is the first time the Eagles have scored
100 or more points in two consecutive games since the 2001-02
season when they tallied 109 against Wilberforce and 103 against
Lincoln Memorial.
Freshman forward Greg Emmons
scored 18 points to lead the Eagles. Emmons was one of five AU
players to reach double digits. Freshman guard Vahn Knight
had 17 points and nine assists. Junior guard Michael Fowler posted
11 points and dished out 10 assists. Freshman guard Chris
Newell hit for 12 points as did freshman point guard Alex
Jones. AUs top rebounder was sophomore center Justin
