Ashland University defensive back Toure Carter (Cleveland, OH/Rhoades) has been named to the Daktronics, Inc., First Team Division II All-America Team.

Earlier, Carter was named a first team All-America by the Associated Press and the American Football Coaches of America (AFCA).

The Daktronics team is selected by sports information directors of NCAA Division II institutions from around the country. To advance to the national ballot a player must first be named first team all-region.

Carter led the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in interceptions this season. He picked off nine passes and had 61 tackles (37 solo). Carter tied a GLIAC single-game record and set a school record when he had four interceptions against Northern Michigan.

The senior also returned 10 kickoffs and averaged 29.8 ypr.

Carter was named to the play in this year’s Cactus Bowl, the national NCAA Division II all-star game.
