The Ashland University womens
basketball team received good news on Wednesday (Jan. 21) when the
initial NCAA Division II regional rankings were released.
The Eagles, 14-3 entering Thursdays game
at Northern Michigan, are ranked sixth in the Great Lakes Region.
The top eight teams in the region at the end of the season will
advance to the NCAA Division II playoffs.
Im just thrilled,
said AU head coach Sue Ramsey. Weve worked
hard and put ourselves in the position were in. I said at
the beginning of the year wed be better in January and
February. Im counting on us building on the foundation weve
established the first part of the season.
Ashland is one of six Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference teams that appear in the
rankings. The regions top team, Quincy, is from the Great
Lakes Valley Conference.
