GLIAC South Division Men's Basketball Award Goes To Jones
February 9, 2004

Ashland University freshman point guard Alex Jones (Englewood, OH/Northmont) has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference South Division player of the week for Feb. 9.

Jones had 22 points, four rebounds, three steals and an assist in Ashland’s 76-69 win over Hillsdale on Feb. 5. He shot 50 percent (8-of-16) from the floor, including 5-of-8 from beyond the three-point line.

Jones is leading the Eagles in scoring (11.5 ppg.) this season. He’s 20th in the league in scoring, 10th in three-point field goal percentage (.404) and 12th in three-point field goals made (1.82 fpg.).

This is the second time this season an AU player has won the GLIAC South Division player of the week award. Back on Dec. 1, junior guard Michael Fowler (Aurora, IL/Lincoln Junior College) received the award.
