Recruiting List Adds Three Names |

Previous Release on Football Signees Ashland University head football coach Lee Owens and his staff have added three players to this year’s recruiting class. This year’s recruiting class now numbers 23 student-athletes. Information on the three new student-athletes follows. Casey Brown (Columbus, OH/Bishop Ready) – Brown is a 6-5, 230-pound tight end. He has a good working knowledge of Ashland University because his brother, Justin Brown, is a sophomore forward on the basketball team. Casey Brown earned All-Ohio special mention this past season. He had 33 catches in 2003 with four touchdown receptions. Brown was first team all-district and first team Columbus Catholic League. As a junior, he secured All-Ohio honorable mention laurels in basketball. Nate Hollins (Cambridge, OH/John Glenn) – Hollins is a 6-3, 310-pound defensive lineman. He was first team All-Ohio, first team all-region, first team all-district and first team All-Muskingum Valley League in 2003. John Glenn went 25-9 in the last three seasons with Hollins in the lineup. He has lettered in football three times and two times in track and field. Nick McCombs (Bucyrus, OH/Wynford) – McCombs is a defensive back/punter. In 2003 he had 1,771 all-purpose yards with nine touchdowns. He averaged 9.2 ypc., 17.0 ypc., 14.5 ypr., on punt returns and 21.6 ypr., on kickoff returns. He had eight sacks. McCombs was a first team all-conference and all-district choice. He was also a member of the Mansfield News-Journal all-star team. Over his career, Wynford was 29-12 and in 2003 gave up 9.8 ppg. The 2002 team was 9-2 and won a conference championship. McCombs has earned four letters in football, three in baseball and two in basketball. He’s a two-time all-league selection in baseball and has also been named to the Mansfield News-Journal all-star team in basketball. 2004 Ashland University Football Recruits Complete List
