Red Raiders Hand AU Baseball Team Third Straight Loss

The Ashland University baseball team suffered its third consecutive loss Saturday (Mar. 6) in Fort Myers, FL, losing a 6-4 decision to 16th-ranked Shippensburg.

The Red Raiders scored three runs in the first inning off of freshman righty Josh Davidson. Davidson took the loss, lasting seven innings. He allowed six runs, all earned, on 12 hits. He walked two and whiffed seven.

Senior righthander Chad Moore went the last innings. He didn’t allow a run while giving up two hits. He walked two and struck out three.

Freshman infielder Casey Jirsa spearheaded the AU offense, going 3-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers and a triple. Freshman first baseman Ron Oneson was 2-for-4.

The Eagles are 7-4. AU will play Assumption and South Dakota State on Sunday (Mar. 7).
