The Ashland University baseball team
upped its record to 12-4 Tuesday (Mar. 9) with a pair of victories
in For Myers, FL. The Eagles got the better of Southwest Minnesota
State, 7-5 and turned back South Dakota, 5-1.
AU shot out to a 6-0 lead after three innings
in the game with Southwest Minnesota. Ryan Douglas started
for the Eagles and didnt get a decision. He pitched into the
fourth inning, allowing four runs on five hits. He walked four and
struck out two. Jim Barry gave the Eagles solid middle
relief, going 1 1/3 innings to get the win. He allowed one run on
three hits. He struck out one and didnt walk a batter. Chad
Moore closed out the game with 2 1/3 scoreless innings. He
earned the save.
First baseman Ron Oneson was 3-for-4
with a double. Infielder Mark Kahlenberg was 3-for-4 with
a homer and three RBI. Catcher Josh Gaub and infielder
Eric McDaniel both went 2-for-3.
In the second game outfielder David Waters
was 2-for-3 and McDaniel was 2-for-4. Outfielder Brandon
Cornell had a pair of stolen bases and Oneson drove in two
runs.
Todd Martinelli pitched a complete game
to pick up the win. He lasted seven innings, allowing six hits. He
walked three and struck out four.
Ashland plays Missouri-St. Louis on Wednesday
at 7 p.m. AU and UMSL played in last springs NCAA Division
II regional playoffs. |
