Ashland University sports information
student assistant Andrea Adame (Jefferson, OH) has
received a summer internship with the United States Track and
Field Association (USATF) in Indianapolis.
The internship, which begins June 1, will run
for nine weeks. Adame will work in the organizations public
relations office. She will assist with daily written and oral
communication to the media and the general public, assist with
USATF publications, internet production and information
distribution, write and distribute press releases and coordinate
press department mailings.
Adame, who will be a senior in the fall, has
worked in the AU sports information office for three years. She
has helped keep in-game statistics for football and basketball and
has performed a wide range of office tasks. Adame has helped edit
and write several media guides and has produced feature stories on
student-athletes from most of AUs 20 intercollegiate sports.
She writes the Eagle Perspective series that appears on the
Ashland University athletics website and also produces general
press releases and hometown releases on student-athletes.
In 2002 when AU hosted the 2002 NCAA Division
II mens and womens cross country championships, Adame
worked closely with a film crew from CBS Television that produced
a piece for an NCAA Championships program.
A sports communication/electronics media
production major, Adame completed an internship last summer with
the Class AA Akron Aeros.
Andrea has been invaluable to
our operation at Ashland, said AU assistant athletic
director for media relations Al King. Shes a
goal-oriented young lady, a high-energy person with an incredibly
bright future in sports journalism and athletic administration.
The internship in Indianapolis is a well-deserved step forward for
her and I have no doubt shell do well there.
Adame is the daughter of Tony and Becky Adame
of Jefferson, OH.
