Program sales should increase at Ashland University football games this fall due to the abundance of new players and coaches on the Eagle sidelines. At least one of the new coaches should be easily recognizable to most fans, however. Tim Seder, a former NFL kicker and an AU graduate, will join the Eagle staff as a graduate assistant coach.

In this role, Seder will assist with special teams and defense while pursuing a master’s degree in sports sciences.

Along with working as a volunteer assistant for the Eagle football team last fall, Seder has previously coached at the high school level. He spent the 1998 and 1999 seasons at Lucas High School working as the offensive coordinator and line coach and also assisted with the school’s baseball and basketball programs.

A distinguished playing career is what Seder is best known for, though. He spent parts of three seasons kicking for the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys and Jacksonville Jaguars. His best season came in 2000, when he scored 108 points for the Cowboys.

The records section of the AU football media guide is also dotted with Seder’s name. He earned First Team All-Midwest Intercollegiate Football Conference (MIFC) honors in his senior season, 1997, and currently stands fifth on the school’s all-time scoring list.

In 1998, Seder earned a bachelor of arts degree in physical education and health education from Ashland. He, his wife Melissa, and their two children-Tyler, 3 and Hannah, 1, reside in Ashland.
