First-year head coach Pam Leonard and the Ashland University women’s golf team are introducing a new fundraiser for their spring 2005 season. Entitled “Eagles for Birdies,” the program will be based on the number of birdies and eagles accumulated by AU golfers this spring.

The Eagle players will be collecting pledges for the number of birdies the team sinks. Eagles will count double. For example, AU golfers tallied 29 birdies and zero eagles this fall. So, a pledge of $1 would lead to a final donation of $29.

The Eagles will play nine 18-hole rounds this spring, beginning with the Northern Kentucky Invitational in Highland Heights, KY on Mar. 26-27. Two of AU’s spring tournaments will be contested at The Country Club of Ashland. The Eagles will host the Ashland Invitational Apr. 9-10 and the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship Apr. 23-24.

Updated team statistics will be posted here on The Eagles Online.
