Over the last two days, the Ashland
University baseball team has made teams from the Keystone State
feel a bit like the Keystone Cops.
Sunday (Mar. 6) in Fort Myers, FL, the Eagles
raised their record to 9-0 with victories over a pair of
Pennsylvania Conference schools. First, the Eagles took care of
West Chester, 10-5. They followed that up with a 13-7 triumph over
Bloomsburg. On Saturday, AU stopped another PSAC outfit,
Mansfield, 6-4.
In the lid-lifter, AU received a complete game
from sophomore righty Josh Davidson. Davidson has thrived
coming out of the bullpen this season where he has three saves.
Against the Rams, he gave a route-going performance, pitching
seven innings and allowing five runs on six hits. He walked two
and struck out eight. All of the Rams runs came in the
seventh inning. By that time, AU was in front, 10-0.
The Eagles pounded West Chester pitching for 13
hits. Senior second baseman Adam Wilson was 3-for-4 with a
double and triple. Senior outfielder Allen Ayers and
sophomore first baseman Ron Oneson had three RBI apiece.
Ayers had three hits and Oneson had one safety. Junior catcher
Ray Frisbee was 2-for-4.
AU collected 16 hits against Bloomsburg. Oneson
was 3-for-4 and outfielder-pitcher Troy Reeder was 4-for-4
with two doubles, a homer and two RBI. Frisbee was 3-for-4 with a
double and a homer. He plated four runs.
The Eagles will face Lynn on Monday. |
