Eagles Baseball Team Divides Pair of Tuesday Games

The Ashland University baseball team split a pair of games in Fort Myers, FL, on Tuesday (March 8). Ashland experienced its second loss of the season with a 2-1 loss to Regis. Later in the day, AU bounced back to post a 12-8 triumph over Upper Iowa. The Eagles are 10-2 overall, 7-2 on the trip south.

Senior righthander Todd Martinelli was charged with the loss in Tuesday’s first game. The teams were tied, 1-1 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. The Eagles were limited to five hits.

Against Upper Iowa, senior outfielder Allen Ayers was 3-for-4 with four RBI and two stolen bases. Senior second baseman Adam Wilson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Ashland collected 14 hits.

Freshman Thom Abbott earned the first win of his college career. Abbott started and pitched five innings.
