AU Softball Splits Twinbill at West Liberty

Ashland University’s softball team began a two-day trip to West Virginia by splitting a doubleheader at West Liberty on Wednesday (March 30).

West Liberty won the opener, 4-3. AU (14-8) captured the second game, 5-1.

Sophomore Jaime Williams was tagged with the first game loss. She’s 9-3. Kelli Williams gave the Eagles a two-run homer and Laurie Black was 2-for-3. The homer was the first of the season for Williams.

In the second game, junior outfielder Ashley Mayle had two hits and two RBI. Angie Westenkirchner was 2-for-3 and Nicole Placie and Kelli Williams each knocked in a run.

The win went to sophomore Sarah Holets, who allowed seven hits in a route-going effort. Holets is 2-2.

The Eagles play at Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday (March 31).
