The Ashland University softball team won a pair of games at Wheeling Jesuit on Thursday (March 31), stopping the home team, 5-1 and 2-0.

In the first game, Ashland scored four times in the seventh inning to claim the win. Sara Mathes hit a three-run homer and Kelli Williams belted a solo homer. The win went to Sarah Holets, who tossed a six-hitter.

AU’s Jaime Williams dominated the second game. She fired a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts. The shutout was her second of the season. Amanda Thomas came off the bench to deliver a pinch single.

The Eagles are 16-8 and will open GLIAC play Saturday at Hillsdale.
