The Ashland University spring football game is
scheduled for this Saturday, April 30, at 7 p.m., at Community
Stadium.
A regulation game will take place with the only
difference being 12-minute quarters instead of the normal 15. The
game will be mostly drive situations with no special teams.
Teams will be determined by a draft that will
be held this week. The teams will be split evenly and coaches will
be assigned to either the Purple or White team.
Along with the football game, a four-man golf
scramble for alumni and fans will be held at Brookside Golf Course
on Saturday. Lunch will be at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m.
Awards from the golf outing will be presented during pre-game
festivities at Community Stadium. The part of the program is
expected to begin at 6 p.m.
There is no admission to the game. Fans are
asked to bring a canned food item or make a donation to the
Make-A-Wish Foundation. All canned goods will go to benefit the
Associated Charities and the Salvation Army in conjunction with
the United Way.
Gates will open an hour before the game and
items will be collected until halftime.
This is the second AU spring game under the
direction of head coach Lee Owens. In 2004, Owens guided
the Eagles to a 5-6 finish.
