Waters Leads AU’s All-GLIAC Baseball Contingent

Ashland University outfielder David Waters (Wadsworth, OH) has been named to the All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) first team.

Waters, a junior, is the lone AU player to earn first team all-conference honors. The lefty hit .390 in 45 games. He led the team in batting average, runs (43) and on-base percentage (.500). He had three homers and 34 RBI. Waters belted seven doubles and a triple.

This is the second time Waters has appeared on the All-GLIAC list. In 2003 he was an honorable mention choice.

Senior second baseman Adam Wilson (New Philadelphia, OH) and junior outfielder Troy Reeder (Medina, OH/Cuyahoga Community College) were named to the GLIAC second team. Wilson was fourth on the team in batting average (.347). He had four homers and 31 RBI and scored a team-high 52 runs. Wilson also led the team in triples (seven) and stolen bases. He had 20 stolen bases in 21 attempts. Wilson played in 45 games.

This was Reeder’s first season in Ashland. The left fielder belted a team-high five homers and hit .376. His batting average was second on the team, as was his slugging percentage (.592). Reeder had a team-high 13 doubles. He drove in 31 runs.

Sophomore pitcher-designated hitter Josh Davidson (Lexington, OH) and sophomore first baseman Ron Oneson (London, ONT/Saunders Secondary School) were included on the GLIAC honorable mention chart.

Davidson had a 6-4 record with a team-high seven saves. He sported a team-best 1.84 ERA while working 73.1 innings. Davidson walked just 10 batters and had 70 strikeouts. At the plate, he hit .281 with one homer and 20 RBI. Davidson was a second team pick as a pitcher last season and was the GLIAC’s freshman of the year.

This is the second consecutive year Oneson has been named to the honorable mention list. He hit .353 in 48 games. Oneson had 10 doubles and drove in a team-high 37 runs.

Ashland finished the year 32-16, 13-7 in GLIAC play.
