The Ashland University softball
program will host several girls softball instructional camps this
summer. All the sessions are under the direction of AU head coach
Sheilah Gulas. She will be assisted by AU assistant
coaches Julie Weir and Dave Leffew, plus members
of the AU softball team.
The first camp is slated for June 14
and is a pitching and advanced camp. All sessions on this day will
be held at Brookside West Fields 3 and 4. This session is for
players in grades 10-12. From 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., a pitching
camp will be held. From 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the staff will work
with advanced campers and pitchers. The 2:30-3 p.m., segment will
be devoted to a question-and-answer session. At 3:30 p.m., a tour
of Ashland University will be provided.
Players should bring a glove, shoes, bat and
lunch. Cost is $65 for advanced campers, $75 for pitchers and
advanced camp and $35 for the pitching session. Catchers attending
the pitching session and advanced camp need only pay $65.
On June 15 and June 16, the Eagles will host a
general instruction camp. Once again, these sessions will take
place at Brookside West Fields 3 and 4. The cost is $50 per
camper. The June 15 camp is for players in grades 6-9. Players in
grades 2-5 should plan on attending the June 16 session. On both
days the camp will run from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Campers should bring their own lunch at this
camp. These camps feature instruction on all the basic softball
fundamentals. Campers will be grouped by age and ability. Games
and competitions will be played in the afternoon.
