Open season with two road games, first home contest against Gannon

Ashland University has changed the time of its football home opener. Originally, AU was to open the home portion of its schedule on Saturday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m., against Gannon. The Eagles will still host the Golden Knights on that day, but the starting time has been moved to 1 p.m.

The postgame fireworks show, scheduled for Sept. 10, has been moved to the next week, Saturday, Sept. 17, when Ashland hosts Grand Valley State at 7 p.m. Saturday Sept. 17 is also the Varsity Walk Dedication and the annual Eagle Walk. The Eagle Walk was originally scheduled to take place prior to the Gannon game.

A year ago Ashland and Gannon met in Erie, PA. The Eagles won that game in overtime, 22-19.

AU opens the season on Saturday, Aug. 27, at Saint Joseph’s (noon). That’s the lone non-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on the 2005 schedule. The next week, Saturday, Sept. 3, the Eagles visit Ferris State for a 7 p.m. game.
