The Ashland University mens golf team,
under the direction of second-year head coach Darrin Jones,
opened its season at the Ferris State Bulldog Mens Fall
Invitational Saturday and Sunday (Sept. 17-18). Despite a solid
individual outing by Adam Hlivko, the Eagles finished last
in an 11-team field at +42.
Hlivko shot a 69 in Saturdays first
round, which ranked as the third best individual score in the
tournaments opening round. Despite slipping to an 80 on
Sunday, Hlivko finished tied for 16th out of 74 golfers with a +5.
Greg Stevens was AUs number two
golfer, carding a +11 to tie for 47th. Jon Spelman finished
in a tie for 24th at +7, but was not included among AUs five
scorers.
The host Bulldogs captured the team title at
+5, finishing five shots ahead of Grand Valley State. Findlays
Eric Atsma was the medalist, shooting -4. |
