Junior Matt Gasser’s second-round 68 at the Great Lakes Fall Regional men’s golf tournament on Monday (Sept. 26) lifted him into a tie for third in the individual standings. His total score of 141 (-3) was just one shot behind co-medalists Adam Miller (Saginaw Valley State) and Kyle Gansuaer (SIU-Edwardsville).

More importantly, Gasser’s performance lifted coach Darrin Jones’ AU team into a tie for sixth in the final team standings for the two-day affair. Finishing at 593 (+17), the Eagles ended up deadlocked with Grand Valley State and SIU-Edwardsville among the 20 participating schools. Saginaw Valley State took first place with a 581 (+5) and Northern Kentucky finished as the runnerup, six strokes behind.

Adam Hlivko also aided the AU effort. He shot a 69 in the second round and ended at 145 (+1), tying for 11th. Joe D’Andrea tied for 26th at 149 (+5). The tournament included 100 total golfers.
