Matt Gasser, consistently the top performer for the Ashland University men’s golf team during the fall season, enjoyed his best effort yet Saturday (Oct. 1) at the Bay Valley Intercollegiate Invitational in Midland, MI. Gasser finished with a 68 (-3), tying Saginaw Valley State’s Adam Miller for the medalist honor.

Miller’s score lifted the host Cardinals to the team title at 287 (+3). The Eagles ended up eighth out of nine teams with a 303 (+19). Jon Spelman’s 73 (+2) aided the Ashland team effort. Spelman tied for 11th overall.

Ashland’s fall season will draw to a close Oct. 10-11 with the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship Tournament, which will be held at the Lakeview Country Club in Northeast, PA. The Eagles will aim to improve on their 10th place finish from 2004.
