In the first Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championship event of the 2005-06
academic year, the Ashland University mens golf team placed
eighth out of 10 participating schools, carding a total score of
917 (+53).
Saginaw Valley State shot an 898 (+34) to hold
off Ferris State by five strokes and win the conference title in
the three-round tournament contested Monday and Tuesday (Oct.
10-11) at the Lakeview Country Club in Northeast, PA.
Chris Robertson was the Eagles
top individual performer, finishing with a score of 228 (+12) and
tying for 14th place. Matt Gasser and Joe DAndrea
each took 229 (+13) strokes and tied for 17th place. Gannons
Dave Patronik was the conference medalist, shooting a 210 (-6) to
win by nine shots.
This tournament concluded the fall season for
coach Darrin Jones and his team. The Eagles spring
season will commence with a Mar. 31 tournament at Gannon. |
