The 2006 Ashland University football
schedule has been put down in pencil for several weeks. Now, it
can finally be written in pen.
AU began the offseason with an 11-game slate.
Now, in its final version, the Eagles will have a 10-game slate.
Originally, Ashland was to host a non-conference game against
Saint Josephs on Oct. 7. Because Saint Josephs
scheduled two games on that date, the Pumas will not be coming to
Ashland in 2006. That first Saturday in October now becomes an
open date for the Eagles.
Also, the contest against Saint Josephs
was to be the 2006 Homecoming game. Now, homecoming will be held
on Saturday, Sept. 30, against Mercyhurst. That game will kick off
at 1 p.m.
This is the first time AU has played a 10-game
schedule since 1999. All of AUs games in 2006 will be
against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foes.
