Severe weather hampered Friday’s (April 7) opening day of competition at the Findlay’s Outback Steakhouse Men’s Golf Invitational. The golfers were able to get back at it on Saturday, though, and complete the two-round tournament. Ashland finished 12th in a 16-team field, carding a 648 (+68).

Matt Gasser was the Eagles’ top player, tying for 18th out of 105 golfers after shooting 157 (+13). Tim Belden shared 41st place with a 161 (+17). Danny Evans finished with a 163 (+19), tying for the 54th spot.

All of the Eagles chased Northwood’s Luigi Spadafora, who won medalist honors with a 148 (+4). Spadafora’s Timberwolves finished four shots behind Saginaw Valley State, who took home the team title with a final score of 607 (+31).

AU will host its own invitational Sunday and Monday (April 9-10).
