The Ferris State mens golf team
used a strong second day of play Monday (April 10) to overtake the
host Eagles and win the championship of the 2006 Ashland
University Invitational. This years Invite was hosted by the
Country Club of Ashland.
The Eagles had an eight-stroke lead after the
first day, but the Dogs roared back on Monday, shooting 290.
AU shot 301. In the final team standings, FSU took first place
with a team score of 596. Ashland (599) was second and Wayne State
(613) was third. Findlay (615) came in fourth in a nine-team
field.
Derek Shelburne of Ferris State was the
medalist. His final score was 143. Wayne States Joe Wilson
(147) was the runnerup. Luigi Spadafora of Northwood and Jacob
Abramson of Wayne State tied for third (148).
Three AU players tied for fifth place. The trio
listed Matt Gasser, Jon Spelman and Chris Robertson.
Each player shot 151. |
