Ashland University sophomore golfer Chris
Robertson enjoyed a breakthrough weekend at Friday and
Saturdays (April 14-15) NCAA Great Lakes Mens Golf
Regional #3 Tournament. Robertson took home medalist honors from
the two-round affair at Timbergate Golf Course in Edinburgh, IN.
His efforts helped the Eagles finish eighth of 19 teams.
Robertson, the leader after Fridays first
round 67, carded a 68 on Saturday to outdistance Indianapolis
Justin Hueber by two strokes.
Coach Darrin Jones other four
competitors were all packed closely together. Joe DAndrea
shot a 149 to tie for 47th place. Matt Gasser shared
the 54th spot with a 150. Jon Spelman totaled 151, tying
for 60th. Sean Reed ended up in a group of players tied
for 63rd at 152.
As a team, AUs stroke total was 582. The
Eagles moved up from 12th place after the first day to place
eighth. Aided by Huebers efforts, Indianapolis won the team
title in its own state with a 575, edging Grand Valley State by
one shot. |
