Jirsa Named to All-District Baseball Academic Team

Ashland University infielder-outfielder Casey Jirsa (Tallmadge, OH) has been named to the CoSIDA District 4 baseball All-Academic First Team. The junior will now move on to the national Academic All-America ballot.

The team was selected by sports information directors from District 4.

Jirsa is hitting .426 with six homers and 46 RBI. The Ashland slugger leads the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in doubles (21), hit by pitch (14) and total bases (121). He’s second in hits (80) and third in batting average, slugging percentage (.644) and on-base percentage (.500). Jirsa is fifth in runs (50), tied for sixth in homers and eighth in RBI.

An accounting major with a minor in management information systems, Jirsa owns a 3.87 grade point average. He’s a member of the GLIAC All-Academic Team, a member of AU’s Epsilon Beta Chapter of Delta Mu Delta (the National Business Honor Society) and part of the university’s Student Athlete Advisory Council.

The Eagles are 42-14 and finished the GLIAC regular season in second place. AU is ranked 14th in the country and third in the region.
