Ashland University second baseman Justin Randall earned his second All-America award of the year Tuesday (June 6).

Randall was named a first team All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. The team was selected by sports information directors from around the country.

Earlier this year, the junior was tabbed as a second team All-America by the Collegiate Baseball Coaches of America. Randall is the 2006 North Central Region player of the year and the 2006 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference player of the year. He’s a first team All-GLIAC and all-region selection.

Randall set a school single-season record for hits (97) and his RBI total (65) is the third best season total in Ashland history. Randall hit a team-high .416.

Randall’s teammate, outfielder Casey Jirsa, was an honorable mention selection on the NCBWA team.

Ashland finished the year 47-17 and advanced to the NCAA Championships in Montgomery, AL.
