Welcome to Ashland University!

As a private, liberal arts university founded in 1878, Ashland University has long been regarded as a mecca of educational excellence in the state of Ohio. Ashland’s 6,000 students are spread across 13 campuses and program centers, with a total of 1,950 undergraduates located at the university’s main campus.

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the University and the sports programs:

This is Ashland University

North of Mohican State Park, Ashland lies halfway between Cleveland and Columbus, along Interstate 71, among a town of 22,000 people.

The University’s main campus sits on more than 120 acres in which 35 buildings are surrounded by Ashland’s tree-covered landscape. Among the campus lies AU’s nine-story, 200,000-volume library; a modern performing arts theatre and art gallery; a 33-room radio and television complex, as well as a 55,000-square foot student center.

Ashland offers students a variety of degree options from three different colleges, including one associate degree program; seven bachelor degree programs; four graduate degree programs in education, business administration, arts in religion and divinity; and the doctor of education and the doctor of ministry. AU supports a student-faculty ratio of 16:1, highlighting the university’s philosophy of “Accent on the Individual.”

AU also offers its student body one of the finest financial aid programs in the country, with 89 percent of full-time students receiving university funded grants and scholarships. With awards, including federal, state and institutional dollars averaging $9,400, Ashland has helped make education affordable for all students.

The university also offers the student body a wide variety of options and opportunities to experience life outside the classroom. The social scene offers students more than 100 organizations, which include eight sororities and fraternities, Student Senate, College Activities Board, WRDL Radio and Television, The Collegian (a student-produced newspaper) and numerous intramural programs.

Other special interest programs include Music, University Theatre, Newman Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Black Student Union, International Club and Adventure Club.

Athletically, Ashland is the home of 20 men’s and women’s NCAA Division II programs, competing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Ashland’s teams have produced numerous All-Americas and national champions in nearly every sport.
